With three medals, gold in the 50m. breaststroke with a new national record, bronze in the 50m. butterfly and bronze in the 200m. freestyle as well as 4th place in the 50m. freestyle and 100m. freestyle respectively, our Paralympic gold medalist Yannis Kostakis returned from Montreal.
As our great athlete said: “My last statement before leaving for the World Swimming Championships in Montreal was made at ANAPLASI Medical Rehabilitation Center and I said categorically: I felt ready for great performances. Finally, the great performances came… what I promised my family and the ANAPLASI family came true.
The three medals and two distinctions I received in Montreal are proof of my relentless preparation with intensive training in the ANAPLASI pool and special strengthening and relaxation programs from the team of doctors and therapists who for years have been preparing and administering them, and whom I thank once again for their help in my success.”
Commenting on the brilliant results of our top athlete, the President of ANAPLASI Dr. Christos Georgopoulos declared ” It gives us joy and makes us proud to contribute to the brilliant athletic career of Giannis. I believe that we are connected by something in common: Both Giannis Kostakis and we, the people of ANAPLASI, have repeatedly proven that we do not shy away from adversity, but neither do we rest on our laurels. That is why we do not let the bar fall, on the contrary, we constantly raise it, aiming for common ideals: the creation of a society of active, socially emancipated and liberated citizens, whose involvement in sports helps them to develop to the maximum extent a spirit of collectivity, integration and solidarity.”
