The law defines two categories of conditions suitable for rehabilitation based on their severity: Medium-stage conditions and Advanced-stage conditions.
Medium-Stage Conditions are entitled to 60 sessions of outpatient rehabilitation therapy per year for two years. These are:
- Extrapyramidal Disorders – Degenerative diseases of the central nervous system, such as extrapyramidal disorders (dystonia, Parkinson’s disease),
- Myopathies – Myasthenias,
- Diseases of the central and peripheral motor neurons (polio, etc.),
- Orthopedic diseases in the postoperative stage, after prior physical therapy, which is judged to be insufficiently effective for their rehabilitation
- Rheumatoid Arthritis, only in case of functional impairment of joints and muscle groups
- Non-specific rheumatic diseases (Reiter’s disease, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, etc.)
- Complex regional pain syndromes (RSD – reflex sympathetic dystrophy, etc.)
Advanced Stage Diseases are entitled to 80 sessions per year for two years. They are:
- Multiple sclerosis
- Stroke
- Cerebral palsy (children and adults)
- Paraplegia
- Quadriplegia
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Polyradiculopathies (e.g., Guillain-Barré, etc.)
- Degenerative CNS diseases (familial spastic tetraplegia, peroneal muscular atrophy, hereditary cerebellar ataxia).
For all conditions covered by the EOPYY national health insurance outpatient therapy package (ειδικό νοσήλιο), the insured persons make a 15% contribution to each rehabilitation session.
However, not all conditions that require Rehabilitation are covered by insurance funds. Discuss your case with your treating physician, or ask our doctors at ANAPLASSI for advice.
ANAPLASI offers attractive financial packages for outpatient rehabilitation programs in conditions not covered by the EOPYY national health insurance.
