With an eye on the London Paralympic Games, Giannis Kostakis began intensive rehabilitation treatment at ANAPLASI. As he states categorically: “I will be present at the London Paralympics and will bring our country new medals.”
The famous Paralympic champion returned from Germany, after the serious accident he had in Berlin and the two operations he underwent, to be hospitalized at ANAPLASI Medical Rehabilitation Center.
He is accompanied by his mother and sister, as well as many fellow athletes. He brought with him two medals, a silver and a bronze, which he won at the European Para Swimming Championships in Berlin, shortly before his injury.
“This accident in Berlin was a traumatic experience for me and, unfortunately, it deprived me of the chance of two more medals. From the moment the operations were finished, I couldn’t wait to return to Greece and be admitted to ANAPLASI,” says the internationally renowned athlete. He continues: “I went through incredible suffering and great distress in Germany after the accident. Now at ANAPLASI, I feel like I’m at home, close to my own people, who take care of me just as thoroughly and effectively as they do each time I prepare for competitions. Until now, I was aware of the day-care rehabilitation services at ANAPLASI. Now I am excited by the enormous possibilities afforded by the inpatient services of the Center. I feel safe, because, once again, I see the awesome organization of ANAPLASI, the excellent technology, the skills, and the humanity of its scientific team, in which I have complete confidence.”
As the Scientific Director of ANAPLASI, Dr. Konstantinos Zikopoulos, emphasizes, “Yiannis Kostakis immediately began full rehabilitation treatment, aiming to prevent complications after such serious surgical procedures, maintain his excellent physical condition, and then prepare him to triumph in his upcoming competitive program, including the London Paralympic Games.”
