The Association of Hellenic Rehabilitation Centers (EKAE)expressed its deepest sadness and sincerest condolences for the tragic death of so many in the terrible railway accident at Tempe, in an open letter to the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis and also communicated to the Minister of Health, Mr. Athanasios Plevris.
At the same time, we would all like to express the wishes of every member of EKAE to assist by providing rehabilitation for the injured.
As the President of EKAE, Dr Christos Georgopoulos, says, “Words cannot express the feelings of our community for the terrible rail accident at Tempe.” Referring to the survivors, the President of EKAE emphasizes that “Those of our fellow human beings who survived are suffering. Injured in body and soul, they appall us.” And Dr. Georgopoulos concludes: “We express our full support and declare the readiness of our members to take action, providing high-quality rehabilitation services to all the injured, without burdening them financially.”
The well-known ASSOCIATION OF HELLENIC REHABILITATION CENTERS (EKAE) is the institutional representative of Recovery and Rehabilitation Centers (RCCs) in Greece. It began its activity in 2014 as a Civil Non-Profit Company and subsequently as an Association.
The twenty-five members of EKAE, which collectively have over 2,500 active hospital beds, provide specialized rehabilitation services for Inpatients, Outpatients, and Day Care. This constitutes a broad network of modern and well-equipped rehabilitation centers, making a significant contribution to both the national and local economies.
The purpose of EKAE is to promote the institution of Rehabilitation and the issues that concern it, both in Greece and internationally, at a scientific, social, and business level. The ultimate goal is the promotion of Rehabilitation in Greece and abroad and the continuous upgrading of the services offered to our suffering fellow citizens, fellow human beings.
